    Glossary: German mortgage terms explained

    Back to glossary

Eigenkapital is the buyer’s own funds put into a property financing, for example savings, a building-society balance or gifts.

More equity reduces the Darlehenssumme and often leads to better interest terms. It is common to pay at least the Kaufnebenkosten from own funds.
