A Grundschuld is a lien on a property, entered in the Grundbuch, that a bank uses to secure its loan.
Unlike the Hypothek, the Grundschuld is not tied to the loan claim and remains after full repayment until it is deleted. It can therefore be reused for a refinancing or a new loan.
